Collaboration among FairWarning, its MEDITECH customers and partners provides solutions to the challenges of privacy auditing through industry-leading standards and best practices.
Additionally, FairWarning® announced that has accepted MEDITECH’s Client Server 5.6, Magic 5.6 and 6.0 application versions into the FairWarning® Ready for Healthcare Applications program, which is designed to fundamentally reduce the cost and complexity of wide-scale patient privacy auditing. MEDITECH users are facing increased pressure and risks associated with HIPAA audits and struggling with complying with the requirement of Audit Controls and Information Systems Activity Review across all systems that touch PHI and the potential impact of the pending Accounting of Disclosures Rule Change including Access Reports.
The importance of such compliance is increased in great part as the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is actively completing audits as a requirement of the HITECH Act, and has already completed its initial 20 audits with another 115 audits to come by the end of 2012, according to Susan McAndrew, Deputy Director at OCR.
“As a MEDITECH user, we believe FairWarning®’s acceptance into MUSE is of tremendous benefit to us. With additional exposure to all MEDITECH users, FairWarning® will have an even greater understanding of our specific needs, making them an even more valued vendor and partner,” said Lori Jayne, Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.
“We are excited to bring the full support and resources of our FairWarning® Ready programs to this vibrant user community and collaborate with them to ease the burdens of compliance and improve hospitals’ ability to protect their patients’ privacy,” said Shane Whitlatch, Executive Vice President Global Alliances and Sales Operations at FairWarning®. “MUSE is the premier organization for MEDITECH users and our being a member provides FairWarning® new opportunities to collaborate with and support the unique needs of these hospitals.” FairWarning® supports nearly 200 hospitals using MEDITECH in North America today.
“We are excited to see FairWarning® become a MUSE member, as we continue to take steps toward more integrated solutions for our customers with FairWarning® and MEDITECH,” said Peter Stone, Executive Director and General Manager, MEDITECH Solutions Group within Dell. Dell MEDITECH Solutions Group is a FairWarning® Ready for Healthcare Applications Certified Partner. The expertise of Dell’s Managed Services professionals has enabled Dell to complete the FairWarning® Ready Certification of the MEDITECH Client Server 5.6 and MEDITECH Magic 5.6 applications with shared customers.
