FairWarning® is looking for a highly experienced technical professional with deep experience in Information Technology.  This team member will be responsible for supporting our growing private cloud environment including servers, network, storage, and firewalls and our on-premise customers.  A great fit will be an individual with strong organizational skills, great communication abilities, and a high sense of urgency. As an IT Engineer, you will interface with FairWarning team members and customers daily to efficiently and effectively resolve technical issues they encounter as well as interface with customers on Infrastructure related cases. Description of Role

In this role you will be able to make valuable contributions to the FairWarning IT team. The IT Engineer will work on cross-functional IT and business efforts. This team member will perform administrative and technical duties including participating in the implementation, maintenance, monitoring and development of our server environment, Local Area Network (LAN), PC systems, SQL environment, Office 365, and our disaster recovery system. They will install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware/software faults and solve technical and applications problems. They will be the point of contact for both internal team members as well as customers and will support and continue to improve our best in class offering. On a daily basis, the IT Engineer can expect the following:

  • Serve as a technical expert and liaison of the daily administration and support of our network
  • Serve as a technical expert on all supported systems (cloud, on-premise, Linux, etc.)
  • Install, maintain and tune software and hardware; control current versions and future releases of applications software, and document the physical configuration of information systems
  • Administer third party applications and products used for hardware and software inventory, software distribution, data collection and network monitoring
  • Optimize the functionality of networks and systems.
  • Diagnose and recover failed systems
  • Perform routine administration and repair of Windows servers supporting Domain Controllers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, IIS, and Terminal Services
  • Plan, coordinate, install, and continuously analyze system design, hardware and software
  • Design, develop and conduct technical and operational tests and evaluations of a wide range of communications equipment and systems using performance management and measurement methods

  • BS degree and/or 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Very strong Linux skills
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Cloud expertise (VMware and public cloud)
  • Automation technologies (Orchestrator, Puppet, etc.)
  • Familiarity with storage administration (local, DAS, SAN, etc.)
  • Installation, modification, and repair of computer hardware and software
  • Network issue troubleshooting skills
  • Working experience with network configuration and troubleshooting including but not limited to DHCP, LAN, WAN, DNS, IP routing
  • Asset Management and tracking
  • Firewall/VPN troubleshooting
